This paper is focused on construction“X Dao Mei Peng You”in contemporary Chinese language,which consists of variate“X”,invariant“Dao”and“Mei Peng You”.The part“X”can be used as most qualitative adjective,some verb and noun with construction coercion.Most monosyllable and disyllable words can be used in the construction.Multisyllable and reduplication words and phrases cannot be uesd in the construction except some phrases with adjective character.The common characteristic of variate“X”is the elastic about degree.The constructional meaning of“X Dao Mei Peng You”is a subjective maximum degree to the quality or status,which forming reason is based on the appreciation of friendship in Chinese traditional culture.The pragmatic function of“X Dao Mei Peng You”includes subjective emotions like praising,enjoying,disappointing,dissatisfied and snarky.The construction deliberately violate the Cooperative Principles to let listeners find the hidden meanings.While forming,evolution of lexeme and syntax were taken place in the construction.In lexeme respect,“X Dao Mei Peng You”extends from describing a situation of no friend objectively to discussing on a maximum degree subjectively.In syntax respect,it extends from[A]+[Dao]transitive verb+[Mei Peng You]nominal objectominal object to[X]+[Dao]complementizer+[Mei Peng You]degree complement.The constructional mechanism is metaphor.This paper makes a comparison between“X Dao Mei Peng You”and its similar constructions,like“X Dao Bu Ke Si Yi”“X Dao Ren Shen Gong Fen”and“X Dao Wu Fa Hu Xi”.Their similar points are construction,deep meaning and secondary relationship.The differences are the category of words which can be used in the part of“X”.
