Under the influence of economic globalization,language learning has been an irresistible trend.Cognition and emotion are two inseparable aspects in language teaching.After the rise of humanism,the situation of middle school English teaching emphasizing knowledge and neglecting emotion has been changed,and the emotional factors in English teaching have begun to be paid attention to by scholars at home and abroad and the foreign language learning anxiety is the main reason which affects students’ foreign language learning in junior high school,which affects learners’ language input and output and declines their English learning efficiency.The previous researches on foreign language learning anxiety all focused on foreign students,non-English majors or adults.There are few studies on English learning anxiety of students in junior high school,especially on migrant students’ English learning anxiety in junior high school.Therefore,the expression on English learning anxiety of migrant students in junior high school is more profound significance.Based on the theory of language economics and foreign language learning anxiety,this thesis mainly aims to explore the English learning anxiety of migrant students in junior high school after a certain period of English learning and put forward corresponding strategies.The following questions will be answered in this thesis:(1)What are migrant students’ manifestations of English learning anxiety in junior high school?(2)Why migrant students in junior high school feel anxious in English learning?(3)How migrant students’ English learning anxiety can be reduced in junior high school?This thesis selected 246 students from the seventh grade of junior high school of No.4 Middle School in Xingyi City as the research objects of the questionnaire.This thesis adapted from Howitz’s questionnaire and investigated manifestations and reasons of migrant students’ English learning anxiety in junior high school.In addition,more complete and specific data and the questionnaire’s deficiency were gotten by carrying out classroom observation.This thesis observed four English teachers and migrant students in seven classes.The results of observation had been recorded and the manifestations and reasons of migrant students’ English learning anxiety in junior high school were explored.As the results presented,some manifestations of migrant students’ English anxiety in junior high school can be concluded as communication anxiety,test anxiety and fear of negative evaluation.They feel nervous,shy,anxious and embarrassed when they face the above anxieties.And there is a negative correlation between their English achievements and English learning anxiety and it means that the higher the English learning scores they have,the lower the English learning anxiety will be.In the aspect of gender differences,female migrant students have more English learning anxiety than male migrant students in junior high school.According to the findings,the reasons of the English learning anxiety were concluded as three factors: student factors,teacher factors and school factors.At last,after analyzing the manifestations and reasons,some suggestions and strategies were put forward to reduce English learning anxiety of migrant students in junior high school.
