One important reason for the high incidence of suicide and psychological problems among college students is the lack of meaning in life.Therefore,it is particularly important to study the meaning in life of contemporary college students,which has become a hot topic in the field of psychology in recent years.However,most of the researches focus on the influence of single internal factors or external factors on individual meaning in life,while ignoring the common role of internal and external factors.Moreover,most of the researches focus on special personnel such as medical workers,the research on college students’ meaning in life still needs to be enriched.In this study,external factors(family function)and internal factors(psychological capital,positive coping style)were combined to investigate the influence mechanism on college students’ meaning in life.This study consists of two parts,literature review and empirical research.The literature review mainly sorts out the theoretical development,measurement method and related research on family function,psychological capital,positive coping style and meaning in life,etc.,which provides research foundation for theoretical hypothesis.On this basis,this paper tries to investigate the family function,psychological capital,positive coping style and meaning in life of college students.To construct the possible path pattern of individual family function,psychological capital,positive coping style and meaning in life,and deeply investigate the mechanism of action among these 4 factors,so as to provide a basis for improving college students’ meaning in life.In this study,a total of 800 subjects were randomly selected from 4 universities in Guilin and Nanning,and 691 valid questionnaires were obtained after the waste papers were removed,with an effective questionnaire rate of 86.37%.SPSS25.0 PROCESS3.3 was used to analyze the data samples,and the following conclusions were drawn in this study:(1)There were significant differences in the family function of college students in terms of grade,only-child and single-parent families.(2)There were significant differences in meaning in life of college students in terms of gender,grade,only-child and single-parent families.(3)There were significant differences in psychological capital of college students in terms of gender,grade,and only-child.(4)There were significant differences in positive coping syle of college students in terms of grade,only-child.(5)Family function was positively correlated with psychological capital,positively correlated with positive coping style and positively correlated with meaning in life.Psychological capital has a significant positive correlation with positive coping style and a significant positive correlation with meaning in life.Positive coping style was positively correlated with the meaning in life.(6)Psychological capital plays a part in mediating the influence of family function on the meaning in life.Positive coping style plays a part in mediating the influence of family function on the meaning in life.Psychological capital and positive coping style play a chain mediating role in the influence of family function on the meaning in life.
