The research of Positive Psychology and Positive OrganizationalBehavior motivates the birth of Psychological Capital and its theory.Psychological Capital concerns about peoples positive psychologicalqualities and their potential, has drawn increasingly attention ofscholars. Current researches on Psychological Capital mainly focus onthe organizational field, but college students are the main source ofenterprises’ human resources, their psychological capital should behighly concerned.Based on the relevant theories about Psychological Capital athome and abroad, this study took college students (includingundergraduate and graduate) as subjects, did some investigations ontheir psychological capital, and developed the College StudentsPsychological Capital Questionnaire. We explored the status anddifferences of college students psychological capital, and also therelationship between college students psychological capital andcoping styles, and career decision making self-efficacy relationship, itmade some preliminary findings.The study investigated a total of1175undergraduate andgraduate students of different universities, using statistical softwareSPSS11.5and LIEREL8.5to do data analysis, the study gained thefollowing results:1) College Students Psychological Capital contains sixdimensions: hope, self-confidence, cooperation, resilience, optimism,and thankfulness. The questionnaire has good reliability and validitywhich are up to psychological test standard.2) The college studentspsychological capital and its dimensions are generally above average,in which thankfulness’s score is the highest, and optimism’s score is thelowest, the general state of college students’ psychological capital ispositive.3) The college students’ psychological capital and its dimension differ in some demographic variables; especially thedifferences on whether joined students’ union, family members’relationships, interpersonal relationships, academic performance,school types are very significant.4) Psychological capital (including itsdimensions) are positively correlated with positive coping style, andnegatively correlated with the negative coping style.5) The collegestudents psychological capital (including its dimensions) and careerdecision-making self-efficacy (including its dimensions) are significantlycorrelated; psychological capital has a significant predictive effect oncareer decision-making self-efficacy.This study extends psychological capital research to collegestudents, nationwide sampling helps to know the generally status ofpsychological capital of Chinese college students, and a series ofdiscussions based on the results would help to enhance the attention ofuniversities and educators on college students psychological capital,and also it’s helpful to promote the development of psychologicaleducation in universities. What’s more, the study enrichedpsychological capital’s theory and research, it has theoretical andpractical significance.
