Forest vegetation,enjoying the reputation as lung of the earth,is the main part of natural resource and major participant in destabilizing the global climate system.At present,increasing air temperature is expected to cause gradual changes in the abundance and distribution of vegetation.The source text of this translation report is an excerpt from Climate Change and Rocky Mountain Ecosystem,published in 2018.As a text in English for Science and Technology(EST),the target text should lay stress on the informativity and translatability.The source text introduces the effects of climate change on forest vegetation in the Northern Rockies and involves in management and adaptation strategies.Hence,it is hoped that the translation can introduce foreign advanced experience and provide a referential material for Chinese researchers.Under the guidance of Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory,the translation report explores the E-C translation techniques of the EST text.The translation report consists of four chapters.Chapter One describes the translation task,including background information of the source text,features of the text and objectives and significance of the practice.Chapter Two deals with the process of translation,including the preliminary preparation,translation process and quality control.Chapter Three,a major part of the report,analyzes the cases in accordance with Functional Equivalence Theory at the lexical,syntactic,and discourse levels.Chapter Four presents the experience and lessons of the translator and lists some unsolved problems during the process of translation.This translation report aims at promoting the public to learn the effects of climate change.And the translator hopes that the EST text translation task can provide references.
