During the reign of Kangxi,palace painting and porcelain making entered a new stage of development.Based on the blue and white and five color porcelain craft,the folk painting on porcelain is rich in subject matter and exquisite in content.At present,the academic research on porcelain genre painting mainly focuses on individual cases.This thesis takes porcelain genre painting as the object of discussion to study its performance in the "witty"style of Kangxi Dynasty.The first chapter is mainly about the social background of Kangxi and the related concepts of this thesis.Firstly,the concept of porcelain genre painting is deduced from the concepts of custom,genre painting and ceramic painting.Then,the starting context of porcelain genre painting and its appearance in Kangxi are clarified,and the differences between porcelain genre painting and decorative patterns of custom images on porcelain are analyzed with examples Finally,it defines the concept of "humor" and its levels,which can be divided into "humor" and "weird".The second chapter introduces the popular themes of the genre paintings on Kangxi porcelain and explores the source of the style of "humorous and weird".The former focuses on the themes of persuading farmers,traditional opera and infant opera,while the latter focuses on the ideas of merchants’ designated picture books and kiln workers’ imitated picture books.The formation of tracing style is mainly related to Hui merchants,Hui painters,Chen Hongshou and Liu Yuan,the governor of pottery.At the same time,the manuscript provided by famous artists not only improves the artistic level and reputation of print,but also indirectly achieves the artistic level and aesthetic fashion of painting on porcelain.The third chapter analyzes the formal characteristics of the "witty"style of genre painting on Kangxi porcelain.In turn,it is reflected in the use of lines,color matching,layout and manufacturing environment.Line setting is to outline the whole picture with lines,just like steel bars.It first supports the sense of quantity of the whole picture,and improves the sense of "humor" by relying on the proportion contrary to reality and exaggerated momentum.Color matching lists blue and white and five colors to represent monochrome and polychrome respectively,and realizes the sense of "humor" by using the change of color scale and flat painting of different purity colors Through the interconnection between porcelain genre painting and utensil type,taking the bottle in the round utensil as an example,it provides the right supporting surface for the schema,and the layout reflecting the"witty" style is mainly the multi-layer layout in the main style and the use of the corner style;in the late stage,the situation creation integrates the perspective of Western painting and the light and shadow performance tendency,highlighting the space,but on the whole,it still emphasizes the Chinese plot As a whole,it presents its "witty" artistic performance characteristics.The fourth chapter is about the cause of the "witty and weird" style of the custom painting on Kangxi porcelain.Tao Ya once recorded that "the characters of Kang kiln are witty like Chen Laolian" and "the color paintings of guest goods are witty".Based on the case study,the author analyzes the composition of "witty" style,which is dominated by literati aesthetics and public interest.Xiao Yuncong and Chen Laolian constructed literati’s aesthetic through the difference between "witty" interest and "weird",while the public interest played a guiding role in the style selection of porcelain genre painting.The fifth chapter,the prosperity of the civil class,a lot of aesthetic demand for painting,determines the popular art nature of porcelain genre painting.This thesis summarizes the genre paintings on Kangxi porcelain,and puts forward new thinking through the "witty" context constructed by literati aesthetic and public interest.To sum up,the study hopes to clarify the particularity and relative universality of the"humorous and weird" style of folk painting on porcelain in the Kangxi era.
