Turandot is a typical intercultural theatre written by Italian musician Puccini.Since its premiere in Italy in 1926,its unique artistic charm has made it have everlasting stage vitality.From text,music to stage performance,Turandot can depict the East as much as possible,but it still has very strong Western aesthetic characteristics.In Turandot performances of different periods and versions,no matter what the original intention of the creator,the Chinese and Western elements are presented on the stage at the same time.It can be said that Turandot is one of the most representative works of intercultural art on the drama stage,and the stage presentation of Turandot,which premiered in New York metropolitan in 1987,has a strong intercultural art aesthetic characteristics.Therefore,this paper analyzes the intercultural art aesthetics in Turandot in this version of stage presentation,and analyzes the integration,alienation and "re creation" of "elements" and "Aesthetics" of different cultures on the stage.This paper is consists of five chapters.The first chapter traces the cross-regional and intercultural evolution of Turandot.The second chapter combs the most representative stage style of Turandot since its birth,and proves that Turandot of Metropolitan Opera House is a typical intercultural theatre landscape.The third chapter analyzes the intercultural elements in Turandot performed in Metropolitan Opera House,and demonstrates the phenomenon of misuse of cultural symbols in intercultural theatre with semiotics.The fourth chapter studies the aesthetic characteristics of Turandot’s intercultural theatre based on the theory of intercultural and cultural misunderstanding.According to the study,we know how its intercultural appearance is produced and what are its characteristics.Chapter five comments on Orientalism evaluation of Turandot and discuss how we evaluate the beauty of crosscultural art and how intercultural art discriminates against others.
