In order to save the nation and survive,compiling new history textbooks to cultivate new citizens has become the urgent task of The Times.The compilation of new history textbooks has experienced a process from translation,adaptation of foreign textbooks to independent compilation,which has gradually realized modernization and localization.Luo Yuankun compiled and published three history textbooks in the 1930 s,covering the fields of historiography theory and history of historiography,modern Chinese history and general Chinese history.Summary of Historiography is a lecture notes of general historiography,which not only introduces and distinguishes the Chinese and Western historiography,the old and the new historiography,but also discusses the theories and methods of historiography,the latter being the main one.Compilated from the late Qianlong Dynasty to the signing of the North China Agreement in 1933,The Nearly Hundred Years of China presents as clear and complete a history of modern social events as possible.Published in 1934,High School History is a detailed account of history from antiquity to the New Life Movement of the 1930 s.In the compilation method of the three history textbooks,all of them adopt the form of chapter to divide historiography and the development of history by stages,with a clear context.Luo Yuankun’s textbooks focus on national history,political history and diplomatic history.He drew the multi-source through national after a long period of assimilation,integration,finally form the community process to construct the ethnic identity of the Chinese nation,enhance national cohesion.In terms of political history,Roche emphasized the rise and fall of dynasties and the gains and losses of political reform,which was regarded as the reference of social reform at that time.He also made great efforts to sort out the ancient communication between China and the West and the failure process of diplomacy in modern times,so as to deepen the understanding of the world situation and China’s international status.Although they focus on different aspects,they all take the evolutionary view of history as their guiding ideology,and their ultimate purpose is to manage the world and apply it to practical use,which reflects the harmony between "imperial history" and "people’s history".Luo Yuankun also made extensive use of the comparative study method to compare the similarities and differences of things and highlight their essence.In the process of discussion,he adhered to the historical principle of "avoid extreme",which reflected his understanding of Shi De.Luo Yuankun three history textbooks involves a wide range,huge contents,the study of the textbook compiling activities,is advantageous to the rich knowledge of modern historical science.
