Analysis Of Performing Skills In Gottschalk’s Souvenir De Porto Rico

Louis Moreau Gottschalk,born in 1829,was one of the first American pianists and composers to achieve international fame.His piano music works are full of unique ethnic flavor,and he has a deep research on the musical cultural elements of African American music and Latin America and other places.He is the earliest composer to use the rhythm and melody of Latin American and Creole folk music.Among them,Souvenir de Porto Rico is one of his masterpieces.In this work,Gottschalk uses and absorbs local folk music elements,and has distinct folk music style characteristics.This article mainly from the author’s life,creation background,music ontology and other aspects of the work involved in the rhythm and speed,octave and chord,long distance big jump,multi-part and pedal playing skills were analyzed,and the music style elements in the music were introduced.It aims to provide more ideas and experience for the performers to better understand and interpret the work.
