This master thesis explores the formation process of historical materialism.Starting from the philosophy of self-consciousness,this paper explores Marx’s ideological transformation and the shift of research focus in the process of discovering historical materialism,clarifies each stage of the birth of historical materialism,combines history with logic,and sorts out the development history of the birth of this thought.Starting from the study self-consciousness philosophy,Marx undergo the process of inheritance、criticism、and going beyond the idea of it.Then,Marx saw the absoluteness of Hegel’s philosophy of self-awareness、the extreme of Powell’s view of heroic history,during this period,Marx had a production mode to social development and the thought of the people make history in philosophy study at the same time,After Marx’s awareness of the painful life which the people are suffering from,he decided from make a switch of speculative philosophy to political fight.At this stage,Marx have shaken the faith of Hegel’s philosophy,at the same time,he realized the importance of material benefits in social development.In the criticism of Hegel’s philosophy of law,the germ of the thought that the economic base decides the superstructure,that is,the theory that the civil society decides the state,came into being.With Marx’s deeper study of this theory,combined with the study of the history of the French Revolution,he found the importance of political economy and completed his turn in research.Marx’s criticism of Hegel was deeply influenced by Feuerbach’s humanism,which caused Marx to think about the nature of human beings and analyze labor from the internal needs of human beings,which was also the embryonic form of Marx’s thought of alienated labor.However,Marx realized that Feuerbach’s humanism was defective later.He criticized it in <thesen über feuerbach>.Marx made a thorough liquidation of his former philosophical beliefs in this essay and finally moved towards historical materialism.The document that brought historical materialism into the open was the <Communist Manifesto>,in which Marx further demonstrated that social existence determines social consciousness、 the relationship between production and productivity、 economic basis determines superstructure,and criticized utopian socialism.Finally,this paper expounds Marx’s scientific demonstration of historical materialism in <Capital> and the influence of the establishment of historical materialism on the world.Historical materialism is one of Marx’s greatest discoveries.It belongs to the common wealth of the world.Its formation is not accidental,but a process of gradual progress and continuous enrichment.
