His explanation of the nature, the characteristic and basic principle of civil society, his analysis of the relation between civil society, family and nation set up a milestone in the theory history of civil society, pointed out for us the conception of history of materialism in the dark, and has become the breakthrough point that Marx created the materialist conception of history.Civil society is a basic category in the Marx and Engels' work, Civil social theory is an important component of Marxism theory ,too. His judgment that civil society is the social organization developed from production and association directly subtly delineated the essence of civil society, and overally grasped all the material association in the market economy society. For Marx, the essence of all social materialrelation is economic association in market.People such as Gransci and Habermas etc. regarded independent corporations and their activities among public field as basic composition of society, thus added new theory content to the concept of civil society and it is a modern expansion of Marx 's social theory of citizen society.
