| Since the beginning of the 20 th century,China has gradually begun to modernize in the political,economic and other fields.However,on the cultural level,the social customs are degenerated,the people are lax,and the moral atmosphere needs to be rectified urgently.Therefore,intellectuals and other progressives from all over the world have put forward proposals to break down the old system and promote moral cultivation,Many social organizations have been established in the country with the aim of improving morality.Shandong province is no exception,under the promotion of Han Fuju and other provincial government officials,Shandong Jinde Association was established in 1933,and in 1935,Jinde Monthly was founded as an important media of Jinde Association.The research object of this thesis is Jinde Monthly(1935-1937),And through this study,analysis of “Jinde Monthly” in the content of the Enlightenment and shielding role,to explore the reasons for this contradiction.The first chapter of this paper mainly discusses the origin and development of Shandong Jinde Association,as well as the basic founding situation of Jinde Monthly.A brief analysis of the cultural and social background of Shandong Jinde Association,It also expounds the editing and distribution,the purpose of running the journal,the layout and the author group of Jinde Monthly.Through combing the times environment and organization attribute of Shandong Jinde Association and Jinde Monthly,further mining text information.The second chapter of this paper focuses on the enlightenment function of “Jinde Monthly”to dispel obscurantism,open people’s wisdom and open official wisdom.The publication first disseminates the general knowledge,propagandizes the modernized idea to the reader,popular science politics,the economy,the education and so on domain knowledge.Secondly,through breaking down the bad habits of daily life,criticizing the superstitious and outdated ideas,actively shaping a good citizen,and paying attention to the cultivation of the public moral consciousness,thus awakening its national consciousness and patriotic spirit.In addition,as an important venue for Han Fuju’s lectures,the monthly also recognized the importance of opening the wisdom of officials,improving the moral cultivation of provincial government officials,rectifying political corruption,and cultivating personal knowledge and practical ability.In order to guide officials to improve the overall quality,to achieve top-down moral improvement.In addition,Jinde Monthly carries out various kinds of knowledge and modern ideas by means of diversified forms of enlightenment,such as drama,music and poetry.The third chapter of this paper focuses on the “Jinde Monthly” to the old moral propaganda,introduce backward thinking on the role of Enlightenment.On the one hand,the monthly set the tone of veneration for Confucius,preaching the old morality of the Confucian norm and emphasizing its positive significance in support of Confucius.On the other hand,it explains in detail the infiltration of specific Confucian ideas such as loyalty,filial piety,benevolence,propriety and trustworthiness in Jinde Monthly,and discusses Jinde Monthly’s use of Confucianism to realize Han Fuju’s political ambitions,the negative significance of its cultural counter-current is analyzed.In addition,to further explore the monthly’s blind application of Confucianism,especially the implicit concept of monarch and subject,the construction of the sense of superiority and the neglect of individual rationality,to analyze the limitations and backwardness of its emphasis on the idea of moral supremacy.The fourth chapter of this paper analyzes the reasons why Jinde Monthly has both enlightenment and shelter,and explains the origin of its contradiction.Mainly through the national calamity background of National Salvation Enlightenment,the monthly difficult to get rid of the political color,Han Fuju’s own limitations of three aspects to explore,From the perspectives of social factors,the organizational attributes of the journals themselves and the personal characteristics of the governors,this paper sums up the control and interference of the backward feudal ideology and the political intention of the authoritative stratum on the Enlightenment,to explore the influencing factors of the incompleteness of enlightenment.In a word,Jinde Monthly,as the organ publication of Shandong Jinde Association,is its essential propaganda platform.Through various forms of enlightenment,it can improve the audience’s aesthetic ideas and taste,enlighten the public with advanced culture and art,disseminate modern ideas,change customs,change bad habits,improve morality,and open the wisdom of officials and the people.At the same time,the decadent feudal thought propagandized in the monthly also had the masking function to the enlightenment.The monthly,which is dominated by the provincial government,has a distinct political bent and venerates Confucius’ s old morality.Therefore,to a large extent,it has obscured the theoretical vision of Jinde Monthly,leading to its one-sided understanding of enlightenment: those who improve the morality of the masses but neglect the cultivation of individual rationality,those who force enlightenment on the grounds of saving the country,it obscures the essence and meaning of enlightenment,and the limitations of Han Fuju’s own vision make it difficult to realize this authoritative class’ s enlightenment in the end. |
