The JiaYin monthly, which insisted"truth and logic first",was published in Japan ,in May,1914.As the editor in chief ,ZhangShizhao had the ambition of building a public sphere of freedom and democracy in China. So he welcomed letters form the reader, collected them, put them together on the"communication"part of the monthly. But in the part of"communication", appeared a conflict between the readers'thought and the editors', which showed the complexity of the Chinese enlightenment. And the inbeing of the logic of Chinese enlightenment determines its bumpy developing way, which is quite different form that of other countries.Historical logic and Chinese traditional idea of"knowledge may influence Dao and politics"made Chinese of that year regard occidental theories as an authority and learn them actively and hard. But during this self-enlightenment process, they forgot the very spirit of enlightenment, which is"use your own mind". And the absence of the spirit in Chinese enlightenment made the effort of making a public sphere in China a failing and the road of Chinese modern culture and literature a road to serfdom.
