| Researchers have discovered through exploration that vocabulary acquisition is a very important and basic link in the process of language learning.Learners’ in-depth vocabulary knowledge,that is,the degree to which they can acquire a vocabulary,is the key to determining their vocabulary ability.For foreign students at the elementary level,Chinese vocabulary has rich meanings and complex collocation.It is precisely because of the large number of Chinese vocabulary and rich vocabulary knowledge that it requires international students to master certain vocabulary learning strategies to promote their Chinese vocabulary.The acquisition of in-depth knowledge.By consulting the related literature on vocabulary learning strategies,it is found that there are relatively few researches on Chinese vocabulary learning strategies in China,and there are few researches on the influence of Chinese vocabulary learning strategies on the acquisition of in-depth vocabulary knowledge.Based on the above considerations,this article uses the Chinese vocabulary learning strategy questionnaire and the Chinese vocabulary in-depth knowledge test paper on the basis of constructivism,cognitive processing levels,and strategic knowledge transformation theories to empirically test 83 foreign students with elementary Chinese proficiency in two universities.The research aims to understand the use of Chinese vocabulary learning strategies and the acquisition of in-depth vocabulary knowledge by foreign students at the elementary level,as well as the influence of Chinese vocabulary learning strategies on the acquisition of in-depth vocabulary knowledge.This study uses SPSS 23.0 software to analyze the survey data and draw the following conclusions:(1)The overall frequency of use of Chinese vocabulary learning strategies by foreign students at the elementary level is at a medium level.Among them,social/emotional strategies are used most frequently,followed by cognitive strategies,and finally metacognitive strategies.(2)Among the in-depth knowledge of Chinese vocabulary,international students have the highest level of mastery of the synonym substitution question type,and the answer to the association question type is the least ideal.In general,the beginner level foreign students have a large gap in the acquisition of in-depth vocabulary knowledge.(3)High-level international students use metacognitive strategies,cognitive strategies,and social/emotional strategies more frequently than low-level international students.Among them,the average difference between metacognitive strategies is the largest,and self-monitoring strategies are among the three primary indicators There are significant differences between high and low groups in guessing strategies,memory strategies and questioning strategies,indicating that the above four strategies have a positive impact on the depth of Chinese vocabulary acquisition by foreign students.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between the overall Chinese vocabulary learning strategies and the in-depth vocabulary knowledge scores of foreign students at the elementary level.Among them,the correlation between the three major vocabulary learning strategies and the in-depth vocabulary knowledge scores is from high to low: cognitive strategies,meta Cognitive strategies,social/emotional strategies,and all three can have a positive impact on the performance of in-depth vocabulary knowledge.Through multiple regression analysis,it is found that cognitive strategies have the most significant impact on the vocabulary acquisition of foreign students at the elementary level.The more frequent the use of cognitive strategies by international students,the better their performance in in-depth vocabulary knowledge.Based on the above conclusions,teachers should strengthen the communicative interaction with foreign students in the Chinese as a foreign language class,train the beginner level foreign students to use effective vocabulary learning strategies and emphasize the importance of cognitive strategies to the foreign students,and cultivate students to use a variety of memories.At the same time,strengthen the training of the use of self-monitoring strategies for international students,cultivate their self-learning awareness,and improve the students’ in-depth vocabulary acquisition ability. |
