Ritual Sequence:The Ritual Of Patriarchal Worship And The Construction Of Rural Order

In the traditional period,clan organization is an important organizational unit within the village,and clan ancestor worship ceremony is an important collective activity within clan members,which plays an important role in educating and standardizing the internal members,and also plays an irreplaceable important influence in rural governance.In the traditional period,the capacity of the state power was limited,and the state power could not penetrate into the interior of the traditional villages.Therefore,the traditional village governance mainly relied on the clan forces based on ethics.Especially in the clan village dominated by a single clan,the village forces united by the ancestor worship ceremony play a great role in village governance,and the clan forces and the main body of village political power often interweave and influence each other.In the actual life of the village,the single clan village that holds the common ancestor worship ceremony tends to show more unity and more stable and orderly inside the village.Therefore,it can be concluded that the ancestor worship ceremony plays an important role in the internal governance of the village.Ancestor worship ceremony is an important performance activity that takes on the functions of shaping the clan group,civilizing the clan,and constructing the clan power order.In this paper,how the clan was educated in the ancestor worship ceremony and how the clan order formed affected the village governance became the research focus of this paper.Based on the C village southwest Chen clan ancestor worship ceremony for case study object,with household interview data and the oral history interviews related data as the basis,the Chen clan ancestor worship ceremony as a concrete analysis object,trying to explore the clan ancestor worship ceremony operation logic and internal conditions,in this paper,the main body is divided into three parts,respectively from rite preparation,performance and ritual specific studies and discusses aftereffect,first of all,a common village social environment,the sacrifice of the clan field,the planning activities,shaped clan village community.Secondly,the performance of the ancestor worship ceremony conveys the clan norms and hierarchical order to every family member,so as to highlight the internal governance hierarchy of the family.Finally,after the end of the ceremony,the clan rules and governance order conveyed by the ancestor worship ceremony did not disappear,but turned into the daily life customs of the village,which played an important role in the village autonomy.Ancestor-worship celebration is in long-term rural society life,rural society based on the geographical and kinship relations established spontaneously from a clan organization activity,it has strong reinforcement member identity,form the clan’s internal power hierarchy,and to apply the endogenous order village governance process,established the interactive relations between and among the villagers,clan and village,Maintain good order in the countryside.
