A Study On The Influences And Enlightenment Of Liu Daoyi’s Thoughts On English Language Education In Primary And Secondary School

This thesis sorted out and analyzed Liu Daoyi’s English education thoughts,and elaborated the influences and enlightenment on English classroom teaching in primary and secondary schools.Liu Daoyi once said: “The high school English is test-oriented,primary school English focus on enlightenment;however Junior high school English is the key period to embody ideas.” In fact,the periods of enlightenment at primary school and the generation of values at middle school are both important times for students.Therefore,this thesis launched a research on Liu Daoyi’s English education thoughts in primary and secondary schools.Thus,three questions were discussed in this thesis:(1)How did Liu Daoyi’s English education thoughts in primary and secondary schools form?(2)What are the main contents of Liu Daoyi’s English education thoughts?(3)What are the influences and enlightenment of Liu Daoyi’s English education thoughts on English education in primary and secondary schools?In the process of discussing the problems,this paper used three research methods,that is comparative analysis method,document research method and interviewing method.The conclusion of the research is the following:(1)The formation of Liu Daoyi’s English education thoughts was influenced by subjective continuous efforts,and the combined influence of objective factors such as the faculty of Beijing Foreign Studies University.There are three stage of the formation: accumulation in the learning phase,consolidation in classroom teaching,and the formation of the book-compilation stage.(2)The interviews,articles about her English education thoughts showed Liu Daoyi’s belief that teaching reform must undergo a lot of investigation and research;comprehensive governance can transform exam-oriented education into a new teaching model that combines exam-oriented education and quality education,the student’s book should be made by our publishing house and foreign outstanding press.(3)Liu Daoyi’s English education thoughts had positive influences on the English classroom teaching,textbooks,and students’ learning.So our country’s primary and secondary school English should focus on the combination of quality education and exam-oriented education,and cultivate cultural confidence,and integrate all kinds of subject into English.The above analysis can provide theoretical reference and practical experience for the English education in primary and secondary schools in our country in the 21 st century,improve the English education quality,and lay a foundation for the English education.
