Zunqianji is an anthology of Ci poetry in the Tang and Five Dynasties, containing 289 Ci poetry by 36 poets from the Tang Dynasty to the Five Dynasties.Zunqianji tends to be juxtaposed with Huajianji. Moreover, its choice of Ci poetry rarely overlaps with Huajianji.Zunqianji has a high historical value in preserving a lot of poetry works and tone data of the Tang Dynasty. This article takes Zunqianji as the research object, and exams its writing time, edition status, and value of historical materials of Ci studies, then discusses the Ci poetry in the early Tang Dynasty and the late Tang and Five Dynasties selected in Zunqian Collection, and examines its compilation philosophy, selection of tunes, subject content, lyrical methods, style characteristics, aesthetic tendencies, etc. The similarities and differences between Zunqianji and Huajianji are also the focus of this article.Judging from the existing relevant materials of the Song Dynasty,Zunqianji was written in the early Northern Song Dynasty, after 978 AD,and before 1078 to 1085 AD.Zunqianji has been edited many times after being assembled. In the part of early Tang Ci poetry selected in Zunqianji, discussing from the perspective of compilation,Zunqianji has a wide selection of sources, and the number of early Tang Ci poetry included far exceeds that of other Tang and Song Ci poetry selections. The authors of these Ci poetry are also poets, and their creation of Ci poetry is inevitably affected by the experience of poetry creation. In terms of formal characteristics, most of these Ci poetry are based on seven-character forms. As far as the subject is concerned, these Ci poetry use a relatively wide range of materials, and the life involved is not narrow. In the way of lyricism, the third-person lyrical way of these Ci poetry is far more than that of the first person. The authors lack the willingness to express their true feelings in their writing, and their writing lacks subjectivity. In terms of the style of poetry, influenced by the literati poetry style and folk literature, these works have three different style characteristics:desolation, plain and natural, and pure and beautiful. In the discussion of the Ci poetry of the late Tang and Five Dynasties selected in Zunqianji, the Huajianji can be used as the reference object for comparative research.Compared with Huajianji,Zunqianji selected a larger number of poets from the late Tang and Five Dynasties, and the geographical distribution of the poets was also broader.Judging from the tones selected in Zunqianji,Zunqianji and Huajianji both have selected the popular tones at the time, which is different from Dunhuangquzici.Unlike Huajianji,Zunqianji chooses five long-tuned Ci poetry, which is of great significance for the research on the rise of long-tuned Ci poetry and the transformation of Northern Song Ci from Xiaoling to long-tuned Ci poetry. In terms of the subject matter, the themes of the late Tang and Five Dynasties selected in Zunqianji and Huajianji are basically the same.Outside of the poets of Western Shu,Zunqianji also chooses the Ci poetry of authors of Southern Tang and Min.The Ci poetry of Southern Tang is elegant and poignant, and the Ci poetry of Xu Changtu is clear and graceful, pioneering the graceful atmosphere of the Northern Song Dynasty. The style of the Ci poetry of Southern Tang and Min are huge differences from the gorgeous Ci poetry of Western Shu.The similarities between Zunqianji and Huajianji in the selection of Ci poetry are related to their compilation purposes. However,Zunqianji was compiled in the early Northern Song Dynasty. The political environment and literati Ci poetry atmosphere in the early Song Dynasty have changed compared with the Five Dynasties period, and the difference between the Zunqianji and Huajianji has also arisen from this.
