Internet game disorder refers to an individual’s behavior of playing online games that is out of control,and excessive dependence on online games leads to social and psychological impairment.Because teenagers’ cognitive development is not yet mature and lack of self-control,they are more likely to be addicted to online games.Internet Game Disorder will not only cause physical damage to teenagers,but also have a significant impact on their mental health and social interaction.Therefore,adolescents addictive behavior of online games is a problem worthy of attention,and it has important practical significance to discuss the intervention of online game addiction.In this study,a high school student in a youth education base was taken as the object of study,and the method of case intervention was adopted.Counselors intervene with clients based on person-centered therapy.The counselor explored client’s experience of emotions or feelings in ways such as empathy,genuineness and unconditional positive regard,so that the client can form a positive self-concept,improve the ability of self-guidance,and reduce the time spent on online games.After 8 times of psychological counseling,the subjects were measured on the scale to explore whether the psychological counseling of person-centered therapy was effective in reducing the visitors’ desire for online games,improving the level of self-concept and psychological adaptability.The tools used in this study were the Online Game Addiction Inventory,the Game Cry Survey and the Tennessee Self-concept Inventory.After analyzing the data obtained before and after the psychological counseling,the research results are as follows.1)Symptoms are mainly alleviated as follows:anxiety is relieved,game craving is reduced,and interpersonal relationship is improved.2)In the aspect of self-concept,the level of self-concept was improved on the whole.The scores of moral self and psychological self were significantly improved,and the scores of self-criticism were also decreased.The client gradually accepted himself,became more confident,gained the strength of action to face the future life positively,and improved the ability of self-direction.The results of this study indicate that psychological counseling based on Person-centered therapy is effective in intervening Internet Game Disorder,reducing game craving and improving self-concept level.
