A Report On Translation Of Financial News From The Perspective Of Translation As Adaptation And Selection

English financial news is not only an excellent learning material for English learners,but also first-hand information for readers to obtain foreign financial information.However,there are many terms and long sentences in financial news,which have foreign cultural and social backgrounds,thus the translation of financial news deserves translators’ attention.Under the guidance of Hu Gengshen’s “theory of translation as Adaptation and Selection”,this report takes Financial Times as the research object,and analyzes the translation of its English website.According to the theory of translation as Adaptation and Selection,the translation process is regarded as the translator’s constant “adaptation” to the translation eco-environment and his“selection” to the degree of adaptation and the translated version.Based on the concept of “threedimensional” transformation,this report summaries the problems encountered in the Chinese translation of financial news the perspectives of language dimension,cultural dimension,and communicative dimension.The language dimension mainly analyzes the translation of terms,the conversion of parts of speech and long sentences in financial news;cultural dimension focuses on the translation of culture-loaded words and idioms;the communicative dimension part analyzes the translation difficulties of news headlines and leads with examples.
