| In recent years,with the rapid development of reforming and opening-up as well as the economic globalization,international exchanges are close in the same area,especially in finance and economics.Financial news is the main channel that makes people know the new trend of finance.Thus,the translation of financial news becomes an irreplaceable way to exchange financial news both at home and abroad.The writer got the permission to translate overseas financial news as the translator.Before translating,the writer made a detailed analysis about the characteristics of financial texts,analyzed the audience of the target texts,set the fundamental objectives of this practice.Financial news is a kind of text with specialty,having its specific patterns in word usage and sentence expression.To be concrete,the writer tried his best to translate the financial terminology accurately,such as words in petroleum and stock fields.And also the writer tried his best to make sentences expression conform to the Chinese readers’ habits.Considering that the audience of target texts are Chinese,in the translation process,the writer solved problems from three aspects which are “linguistic dimension”,“cultural dimension” and“communicative dimension” under the guidance of “three-dimensional transformation” translation method and “Doing things with translations” principle in the theory “Translation as Adaptation and Selection”.The writer also adopted four basic translation skills which are literal translation or free translation;addition,deletion or alternative in translation;deletion or ellipsis in translation;integrate or split sentence group,so as to ensure the target texts accurately,meet the requirements of the client.This report is a summary of the writer’s translation practice.The report can be divided into four chapters.They are “Translation Task Description”,“Translation Process Description”,“Translation Cases Studies” and “Translation Practice Conclusion”.On the analysis of the background of the translation task,the translation context and process,the writer researches the leading function of the theoryTranslation as Adaption and Selection in this practice and the translating strategies which are adopted under the guidance of Translation as Adaption and Selection.The last chapter is a summary of this translation practice.In this chapter,the writer simply reviews the whole translation practice and hope to provide certain reference for other translators who also engaged in financial news translation and editing. |
