The Komura Jutaro’s Ideology And Actions During The Japan Invasion Korea

Komura Jutaro(1855-1911)was a well-known politician and diplomat during the Meiji period in Japan.He serves as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan many times and has extremely rich diplomatic experience.Throughout Komura Jutaro’s diplomatic career,diplomacy with Korea has always been one of the clues throughout.Since Komura Jutaro’s contacts with foreign affairs in 1893 to the merger of Japan and Korea in 1910,Japan has played an important role in the process of Japan’s invasion of Korea.He has repeatedly negotiated with Russia and twice promoted the Japan-Britain alliance to fight for Japan’s interests in Korea.Later,by inciting the Japanese government to initiate the Russo-Japanese War and collude with Britain and the United States,he fulfills his long-cherished wish to annex Korea.This article analyzes Komura Jutaro’s thoughts and activities towards Korea during the period of Japan invasion Korea.The full text is divided into three parts: introduction,body and conclusion,of which the body is divided into four chapters.The introduction tells the background of the topic firstly,then summarizes the relevant research at home and abroad,and finally explains the theoretical value and practical significance of the research.The first chapter focuses on Komura Jutaro’s thoughts towards Korea.Firstly,it sorts out the development of Japan’s “invasion theory” in different stages from ancient times to the Meiji period;secondly,analyzes the source of Komura Jutaro’s invasion thoughts towards Korea from two aspects: family background and educational experience.The second chapter analyzes the process of how Komura Jutaro helps Japan to competing for interests with Russia in Korea.First,it sorts out Komura Jutaro’s timely handling of the murdering empress Myeongseong incident and the relocation of the Russian pavilion when he was minister in Korea;then discusses Komura Jutaro’s leading role in renewing the JapanBritain alliance and signing the “Portsmouth Peace Treaty”.The third chapter discusses the specific activities of Komura Jutaro in the process of Japan’s annexation of Korea.The fourth chapter gives a general discussion on the changes,characteristics and influence of Komura Jutaro’s ideology and action towards Korea.The concluding remarks comprehensively judge Komura Jutaro’s diplomatic thoughts and actions towards Korea.
