Cooperative teaching with foreign teachers has become a trend in English language teaching,but there is little research on the impact of Sino-foreign cooperative teaching on the teaching ability of Chinese teachers.Based on this perspective,this paper lays the research foundation for this paper by defining the relevant concepts and summarizing the previous research on Sino-foreign cooperative teaching.This paper has established a framework for the analysis of teaching competencies by dividing them into three aspects: learning situation analysis competencies,teaching design competencies,and classroom teaching competencies.And based on this,s teacher of X primary school English education and training institution is selected as the research object,and the process of s teacher’s cooperative teaching with foreign teachers and the process of their ability growth through cooperative teaching are studied by using observation and interview methods.The growth of teaching ability of s teacher and foreign teacher after cooperative teaching is quite obvious compared with the situation of her teaching ability before cooperation.this paper examines the teaching ability of teacher S before Sino-foreign cooperative teaching and finds that there are many problems in teacher S’s teaching ability of Sino-foreign cooperative teaching.It is mainly reflected in analyzing the situation at a shallow level,high limitation of teaching design ability,less frequent teacher-student interaction in classroom teaching ability,etc.Then,this paper analytically describes the process of Sino-foreign cooperative teaching.we examined the changes in the teaching ability of teacher S after the Sino-foreign cooperative teaching and found that the teaching ability of teacher S has been improved,mainly in the following ways: in the ability of learning situation analysis,teacher S no longer sees students as passive educators and “builds a record” of students’ learning situation;in the ability of teaching design,teacher S has realized a change from copying textbooks to integrating teaching materials,from a step-by-step preparer to a good designer of teaching methods;in the ability of classroom teaching,teacher S has changed from a fixed mode of teaching in the past to a more excellent classroom organizer.
