In the context of globalization,the country needs more talents with a global perspective.Under the trend of global economic integration,Sino-foreign cooperative education projects are very necessary.Sino-foreign cooperative education should adapt to the development of Chinese education,guided by the cultivation of professional talents in socialist construction in China,and introduce first-class educational resources from abroad,including teaching methods,courses,and teachers.The opening of academic English courses is a choice made by the development of the times.Increasing students’ academic English writing helps students express themselves with international standards.Promoting students’ academic English writing ability helps to break the formatting and formalization of English writing,and it is more helpful to improve students’ writing skills.Therefore,this article mainly studies academic English writing class under the cooperative learning teaching mode of college students of Southampton Joint Institute at HEU.The two research questions of the study are as follows:(1)What are the impacts on academic English writing proficiency under the cooperative learning teaching mode?(2)What are the factors affecting students’ academic English writing proficiency under the cooperative learning teaching mode?This paper adopts qualitative and quantitative research methods.The quantitative research mainly uses SPSS 19 to analyze the academic writing performance of the experimental group and the control group and the questionnaire results of the experimental class students before and after the experiment.The qualitative research mainly uses the interview method to investigate the acceptance of the cooperative learning teaching mode of the four students in the experiment class and suggestions for improving the classroom teaching effect.The findings are as follows:(1)There was no significant difference in the overall academic English writing level of the two classes before the experiment,and after one semester of study,the academic English writing proficiency of both classes improved,but the academic writing proficiency of students in the cooperative learning teaching mode was greater than that of students in the control class.(2)Students’ writing interest,writing confidence,writing anxiety,and sense of classroom cooperation are the main factors affecting the difference in academic English proficiency of college students.Compared with the traditional teaching mode,students are more inclined to use the cooperative learning teaching mode,and the cooperative learning teaching mode enhances students’ sense of classroom cooperation,and the pleasant classroom experience effectively reduces academic writing anxiety,improves academic writing interest,and greatly promotes the progress of students’ academic English writing level.The research results of academic English writing teaching under cooperative learning teaching mode provide an important reference for the research and teaching of academic English writing in China.At the same time,it is also of great significance to explore a teaching mode that is more suitable for Chinese students to learn and write,so as to cultivate talents with a more international perspective for the country.
