A Study On The Translation Of Anaphora In A Dream Of Red Mansions

As a hotspot in textual discourse research,cohesive devices have been paid close attention by many scholars.Anaphora,as one of the important means of textual cohesion,is also very important for the understanding of text.Simply put,anaphora refers to the use of one language form in a text to express the meaning of another language form.Whether it is anaphora within a sentence,anaphora in a text,or the manifestation of anaphora,linguists have conducted in-depth and detailed studies on the anaphora phenomenon by using the knowledge of different disciplines,and have achieved a series of fruitful research results.However,less attention has been paid to the cross-linguistic research of anaphora,namely,the manifestation of anaphora in the translation of different languages.Every language has anaphora.The characteristics and expression habits of Chinese and Chinese languages are different in the use of anaphora.This will bring challenges to the semantic recognition,the choice of anaphora form and the logical relationship of textual organization.On this basis,by combing the different types of anaphora in the Chinese version of a dream of Red Mansions and its Uyghur translation,this paper takes three types of anaphora as the research object,namely,noun anaphora,pronoun anaphora and zero anaphora,and then further sums up the hyponymic classification,and analyzes the use of different types of Chinese anaphora in Uyghur discourse and the corresponding transformation relationship with specific translation examples,The purpose is to provide some reference value for the practice of Chinese anaphora translation.The results show that: 1)in the process of Uyghur translation,different anaphora forms in Chinese mainly use four translation skills: retaining anaphora,omitting anaphora,adding anaphora and converting anaphora.2)Different anaphora forms in Chinese need to be converted into corresponding anaphora forms when they are restricted by context,language expression and text topic.The paper is divided into five parts.The first chapter mainly introduces the background and significance of the topic,the research review of anaphora at home and abroad,the research objects and methods.The second chapter is the introduction of related concepts of anaphora.In the third chapter,referring to the previous research results of anaphora,the author summarizes the anaphora of nouns,pronouns and zero anaphora in a dream of Red Mansions and classifies them into hyponyms,and analyzes the Uyghur translation of different anaphora types.The fourth chapter attempts to analyze the restrictive factors that affect the choice of different types of anaphora in Uyghur in a dream of Red Mansions.Chapter five summarizes the research on the translation of anaphora in a dream of Red Mansions.
