| Male gaze,as a kind of gender viewing power,has been oppressing and regulating women in all aspects under the patriarchal system for a long time.The female group then began to follow the male perspective to construct self-consciousness,and then the male perspective became the mirror of women’s self reflection.They are constantly falling into the whirlpool of gender gaze,and cannot extricate themselves.In order to get rid of this dilemma,with the second wave of western feminism which began in 1960 s,the status of women groups gradually rose,and the art field was also the same.The rise of feminism,especially in the post-modernism period,female artists often try to avoid or surpass the tradition of "male gaze" in the moment of artistic creation.In response to the photography major I studied,many female artists began to show their spiritual world and personality expression by examining themselves and the surrounding world,using image media and starting from various social issues,and then subverting the traditional visual graphic relationship.In view of the current situation of contemporary female photography,the author observes and summarizes the following three types: one is to pay attention to body and gender,and highlight female physiological characteristics to maximize,so as to construct women’s initiative to their own body.The second is to ignore or blur gender,to block or weaken the gender characteristics to block the desire projection of traditional male gaze.The third is to "wipe out" gender,seek self-identity,and no longer cling to the binary opposition of gender,but pay attention to the relationship between self and social framework,emphasize their political views as women,and then promote the benign change of social consciousness.The author tries to analyze the gender issues in contemporary female photography by analyzing different types of female photography works and combining with the historical development of feminism.In addition,photography contains two important contents: theoretical development and creation practice.The author hopes to further understand the core of female photography through my own experience in creation practice. |
