| This report is based on material from The Economist,mainly adopting the method of analysing cases.We’re careful to select eight articles about Huawei between January and July in 2020 and summarize the translation practice.Key issues and difficulties during the period of translating,as well as the way to translate and theories adopted,are disscused in particular.Why to choose the topic of Huawei,the impact this thesis having,characteristics of The Economist,the research actuality,procedures of this practice and structure of the dissertation are illustrated in the first two sections.The third chapter constitutes the most crucial part,explaining and exploring the translation of long and complicated statements,title,special vocabularies,discourse with concrete examples.In this practice,it is found that semantic translation and communicative translation contribute to the translation of news titles.Besides,original words,phrases and the rhetorical device of metaphor are often used in The Economist,which need to be flexibly dealt with by translators.The contents involve a large variety of knowledge and current events,so the translator needs to know plenty of things in many fields and understand relevant information in advance.And some of the expressions are biased,so it’s necessary for the translator to be clear about her own political position.Finally,this paper summarizes the gains,and reflects on the shortcomings,in the hope of contributing to the E-C translation of political news. |
