A Reporting On Translation Internship In Huawei Corporation

With the acceleration of globalization, the language service industry is more and moreimportant in the global economy and international communication. China’s languageservice industry maintains a rapid growth rate, but faces the problem of insufficienthighly-competent translators. In the year of2007, the Ministry of Education (MOE)established the Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) training program to trainhighly-competent translators. By2011,159universities have been authorized to run theMTI training program. The author of this thesis, as a MTI candidate, had a four-monthtranslation internship in Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.(Huawei for short hereafter) in2012.Keep this in mind, the present thesis is a report which introduces the Huaweitranslation model and its requirement for translators and summarizes the requirements fortranslators. Based on the previous studies of translation competence and translationeducating, this report points out that Huawei translation model can be adopted for the MTItraining program.
