A Comparative Study On The Image Of Doctors In Chinese And American Medical Documentaries

For a long time,the presentation of doctor image in the public vision is not comprehensive and objective,which will directly affect the public’s cognition of doctors.This cognitive deviation will lead to misunderstanding between doctors and patients,and then increase the probability of doctor-patient contradiction and endanger social stability.The medical documentary is one of the important carriers to present the image of doctors to the public.We should grasp the standard and scale of presenting the image of doctors,so as to construct a realistic image of doctors for the public.Starting from the narrative theory,this paper uses content analysis and comparative research methods to make a comparative study on the image of doctors in Chinese and American Medical documentaries,and summarizes the enlightenment on the image construction of Chinese medicine students in medical documentaries.In the research process,Firstly,this paper defines the concept of documentary and medical documentary,summarizes the development and characteristics of medical documentary in China and the United States,and then defines the concept of media image,doctor and doctor image.Secondly,this paper selects two medical documentaries in China and the United States,which mainly present the medical group,namely "The Chinese Doctor" And "Boston Med",using content analysis method to analyze the doctor image in the two countries’ documentaries,get their own characteristics,and make a comparative study of the differences between the two documentaries;thirdly,this paper analyzes the differences between the two documentaries by the development degree,values,medical system,cultural tradition of the two countries’ documentaries.Finally,from the following four aspects:the construction of the main characteristics of the doctor image.The diversification of the presentation perspective,the contrast of the non doctor group and the enhancement of the documentary practitioners’ own cognition of the doctor image.This paper puts forward some countermeasures for the construction of the doctor image in the medical documentary.
