The Research On Media Representation Of Doctor-Patient Image In Medical Documentary

As medical staffs,treat the disease is their job.As patients,receive the medical treatment is closely related with their life.However,nowadays the information asymmetry and cognitive bias between doctors and patients has become a crux that prevents the effective communication with each other.Under the background of increasingly tense relations between doctors and patients,guiding the receiver to objectively think about problems of doctors and patients has become an urgent task for media workers to accomplish.As a TV documentary that relying on traditional media,it plays a two-way communication bridge in mass media and has a broad-based audience base because of its credibility.Unlike previous media workers' propagation paths for doctor-patient problems,The Story in ER and Life Matters,which are tasked with health communication,are dedicated to represent doctor-patient relationship.In this way,it also subverts the audiencets stereotype of the omniscient and all-round image of the medical image and the inherent one-sided understanding of the patient's image.This study adopts case study method and text analysis method.In addition,it bases on the theory of Media representation and Narratology.First of all,this paper analyzes kinds of doctor's professional images in an objective way and various patient's images with a distinctive personality in The Story in ER and Life Matters.Secondly,through the analysis of narrative perspective,narrative issue,narrative figure and narrative language,this study discusses the narrative strategies adopted in these two medical documentaries for the multi-dimensional image of doctors and patients.Thirdly,in the process of planning and dissemination,these two documentaries favorable documentaries have five undergone changes in the media representation of doctor-patient image as compared to previous medical documentaries.For instance,it involves several gray topics,focuses on the diversification of doctor-patient's characters,and spreading the concept of medical science.Finally,bases on the above discussion,this paper put forwards five revelations for media representation of doctor-patient image in medical documentaries.
