The source text comprises the third volume and forth volume of the pirate series written by the English children’s writer Amy Sparks, namely,Pirate Blunderbeard :Worst Mission Ever and Pirate Blunderbeard : Worst Movie Ever.Following the‘multielement’ principle, this report discusses the style reproduction of children’s literature in terms of phonetics, pragmatics and context. In these two novels, with an easy and humorous writing style, the writer gives a vivid description of the two adventures of pirate Blunderbeard. With its rich and funny storyline,as well as the simple wording, the two novels are typical texts of children’s literature.Characters with distinctive personalities and the dramatic storyline are exciting for the children and the theme to to prove oneself by virtue of courage and adventurous spirit bears great educational significance to the young readers. Therefore, the translation of these two books provides young readers at home with the opportunity to enjoy more fine children’s literature. As for the style of the source text,it could be concluded that these two books take a joyful and humorous style in general. In rendering the source text, the translator mainly focuses on the phonetic features, special words, common rhetoric,as well as the discourse and context from multiple perspectives such as phonetic level, pragmatic level and textual level. In terms of phonetic features, employment of modal particles, rhoticity, onomatopoeia and etc.could make the target text more readable,so as to achieve the reproduction of phonetic style. With regard to pragmatic level, the translator has paid attention to the rendering of acronyms, compound words, the employment and conversion of the rhetoric to achieve the reproduction of pragmatic style. As for the textual level,a full grasp of the context of the source text is necessary, which includes linguistic context, situational context and cultural context. In such case, the target text would be more faithful to the source text and the language would be more fluent and idiomatic when the translation is done from the perspective of discourse.Case studies show that paying more attention to the phonetic features, special words, the common used rhetoric as well as the discourse and context from a multidimensional perspective under the ‘multielement’ principle would help the translator better grasp the writing style of the children’s literature, and thus better achieve the style reproduction of the source text.
