| As a new form of business model,social entrepreneurship plays an increasingly vital role in solving social and economical problems and has achieved a series of advanced results in foreign countries,it is of vital importance to introduce great overseas practice and wisdom in China.The original text of the report Creating the social venture studies newly results in social venture,which is written by Susan Coleman,a finance professor at the University of Hartford,and Dafna Kariv,a professor at the College of Management Academic Studies.Commissioned by the supervisor,the author chooses chapter 11 and chapter 12 as the translation material,which mainly discusses the ways of achieving sustainable growth for social venture.Guided by Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory,the author first analyzes the characteristics of the source text at lexical level and syntactic level,and then makes adjustments both in form and content to ensure accurate and idiomatic expression.In terms of lexical level,there are various terms and some of then borrowed from other fields.To handle the trouble,the author adopts translation methods such as extension,amplification and conversion to ensure accurate expression of words meaning.In terms of syntactic level,there are many long sentences with complicated structure and logic.Based on the analysis of sentences and the differences between English and Chinese,the author adopts a variety of translation strategies to make the translation readable and coherent,including repetition,adjustment of of word order,division,voice changes and omission.At last,the study and application of communicative translation theory enriches the research of translation on social entrepreneurship and the author hopes it can provide relevant reference for other translators. |
