Research On Animal Narration In Western Novels Since The New Period

Taking the animal narrative of western novels since the new era as the research object,this paper tries to explore the unique spiritual and cultural connotation of western writers’ Animal Narrative creation from four aspects of western spirit,folk belief,life existence and modernity reflection,and to think about its significance and value to western literature and Chinese Contemporary literature.First of all,the paper discusses the melting of the western spirit in the animal narrative of the western novels since the new era from three aspects: the pure character of human nature,the unyielding spirit of blood and the tenacity of fighting against fate.It shows that the animals in the West bear the same hardships of survival as the people in the west,and show the vitality and vitality of the western land with their strong and tenacious posture.Secondly,most of the animal narratives of western writers contain a primitive and simple concept of "animism",which reflects human’s awe and respect for all natural things including animals.However,with the rise of industrial civilization,this belief idea rooted in the period of primitive agriculture and animal husbandry civilization gradually declined,but compared with the "Anthropocentrism" which has been rampant since modern times,it has the rationality to promote the sustainable development of human beings.Western writers try to reconstruct the spiritual world of modern people by writing the intimate relationship between human and animals,describing the divine power of animals and returning to the original belief.Thirdly,in the unique time and space of the western region,the western writers recognize the existence of animals as the children of life,and dispel the terrible shadow of death by staring at the death posture of animals;By writing animal’s strong will to life,we can release the most powerful force of life in the search for life of love and freedom.Finally,the western writers combine their life expectation,spiritual pursuit and animals into one,realizing the harmony and resonance of literature and life.Finally,the western animal narrative novels can be classified into the sub category of local novels to a large extent,because most animals live in the countryside,so it is difficult to write animals without touching a pre modern life scene.In their animal narrative novels,many western writers use the affectionate description of animals to construct a unique pastoral scene.But at the same time,they also realize that in the rapid development of urbanization today,the pure local space is gradually disappearing.Therefore,the animals in these writers’ novels often stay in the countryside,only to witness the rural decay and go to the city,They can’t find a place to return to,and finally fall into a state of no land and hesitation.This kind of living condition is common between people and animals,which is a typical symptom of modernity.
