A Study On The Visual Metaphor Design Of The Picture Book "The Cry Of Childhood"

Under the background of rapid development of economy and culture,picture books,as the main way of cultural communication,express the theme and spread knowledge to people in a concise and comprehensive way with painting as the main part and words as the auxiliary part and skilfully combine the literature and art together,showing the inner meaning of everything in the world.Picture books can promote communication between readers of different ages,allow readers to experience different lifestyles,and invisibly broaden our horizons and enrich our lives.As the most common and important design method in picture books’ creation,visual metaphor can not only enhance the aesthetic interest,but also produce rich and vivid visual images.This paper uses Case Analysis,Comparative Research Method and Practical Drawing method to elaborate and study the visual metaphor from three aspects of space composition,color and role modeling.It analyzes how to use metaphors to allow readers to follow the line into the storyline and send out insights and reflections.From the perspective of visual metaphor,research the visual elements in the picture book and combine with the graduation design work "The Voice of Childhood" to practice and explore the deeper meaning of visual metaphor.The value of excellent picture books is reflected by visual metaphorical thinking.The ultimate goal of picture book creation is to use metaphorical thinking to create picture books,so that readers can deeply interpret the works through the combination of story content and visual metaphor.I hope that this paper and picture book will provide creators with specific reference to create better works for readers.
