| Morality is a code of conduct and norms produced in the long evolutionary process of mankind, and plays an important role in the development of mankind’s history. When facing ethical issues, people often face the choice of sticking to or violating the ethical code, which will result in judgments based on utilitarianism judgment or morality judgment. In the past, the research on moral judgment mainly explored how intuition and reasoning affect the individual’s moral judgment. With the development of embodied cognitive thoughts, many psychology researchers believe that the body’s feelings and states will also have an impact on moral judgments.Studies have found that physical feelings such as temperature, environmental cleanliness, and odors affect the moral judgment of individuals. For example, feelings of cold, dirty environment, and foul odor will cause individuals to make morality judgments. However, these studies did not involve sound. The size of the sound will affect the individual’s decision-making and judgment.Studies have found that voice conferences affect the emotional state of individuals and make it easier for individuals to make risky decisions. Therefore, from the perspective of embodied cognition, this research explores whether loud voices are beneficial for individuals to make morality judgments. This study adopts the moral dilemma story research paradigm.Experiment 1played the pre-recorded audio material of the classic moral dilemma story with a loud voice for some subjects, and played the audio material with a small voice for the other part, requiring the subjects to sacrifice to the protagonist of the story. The degree of agreement with one person to save multiple lives is scored. The results of the experiment found that compared with those who listened to low-voice audio materials, the participants who listened to loud audio materials had lower moral judgment scores. However, the protagonist of the audio material of the moral dilemma story of Experiment 1 is “you”,and the subjects are highly involved in the situation. Therefore,Experiment 2 changed the protagonist of the story from “you” to Xiao Ming in the third person, and further tested the results of Experiment 1 under low contextual involvement. The results of the experiment also found that compared with those who listened to low-sounding audio materials, participants who listened to loud audio materials had lower moral judgment scores. In Experiment 3,the reading group was added as a baseline comparison. It was further verified that the experimental results of Experiments1 and 2 were because the individual’s tendency to make moral dilemmas. The loud voice made him make moral judgments, and the small voice made him make utilitarian judgments.Judgment.The results of Experiment 3 found that compared with the reading group, the participants who listened to loud audio materials had lower moral judgment scores in the moral dilemma task, and the participants who listened to low audio materials had higher moral judgment scores. The results of this study show that the sound is good for individuals to make morality judgments. |
