| This study aimed to determine the correlation between Big Five personality traits and Internet addiction among Filipinos living in China’s mainland.The study employed the Neuroticism Extraversion Openness Five-Factor Inventory(NEO-FFI)and the Internet Addiction Test(IAT).There were 373 respondents,of which 192 were female(51.5%),and 181 were male(48.5%).The results showed that 68% of the population(n=254)exhibit Internet addiction,while 32% of the population(n=119)do not exhibit Internet addiction.The coefficient correlation revealed significant values for Neuroticism(r=0.128,α = 0.05),Openness(r=-0.112,α = 0.05),Agreeableness(r=-0.106,α = 0.05)and Conscientiousness(r=-0.147,α = 0.01).Multiple regression analysis revealed that Conscientiousness is the only personality trait that could predict five percent(5%)of the variance in IAT scores(F=3.92,p=0.026). |
