Sexual ethics,as an important part of human ethics,has been highly concerned by Marx and Engels.Engels is the first Marxist classical writer who systematically discusses the sexual ethics,whose thoughts have a profound impact on later generations.From the perspective of the background,the main background of Engels’ s view of sexual ethics is: the Bourgeois’ s slander of the Communist society’s sexual ethics and the chaotic status quo of the civil society’s sexual ethics at that time.As for the theoretical origin,Engels critically inherited Hegel,Feuerbach,Morgan’s sexual ethics,and was largely influenced by Marx,thus forming his own sexual ethics.The connotation of his sexual ethics is quite rich,mainly including the concept of love,marriage and family.On the one hand,these thoughts contain the basic views of Marxism,on the other hand,they embody Engels’ own philosophical views.Especially in the book “The Origin of Family,Private Ownership And State”,Engels focused on the study of sexual ethics and constructed a distinctive system of sexual ethics.Engels accepted "Morgan model" to a great extent in the development and periodization of society,marriage and family.Engels has two internal logics in the construction of sexual ethics in this book: one is the logic of biological evolution,the other is the logic of productivity development.The new materials of modern empirical science make us doubt the rationality of "Morgan model",especially for the concept of human promiscuity in primitive society,which is difficult to be established under the challenge of new biological evidence.We also critically analyze many specific ethical dilemmas that may arise under the system of sexual ethics,which is constructed in this book.Therefore,we must abandon the practice of treating Engels’ only words based on certain historical conditions as absolute truth.In the new era,we call for a new Marxist view of sexual ethics that can contain new empirical evidence and solve the new problems of sexual ethics.
