| The focus of translation studies has been shifted from texts to translators after the “cultural turn”,and a great amount of studies related with translator’s subjectivity have been conducted.Based on the theories of translator’s subjectivity, this paper discusses how gender plays an important role in translation.By comparing the two Chinese versions of The Color Purple, this paper explores whether and how male and female translators adopted feminist translation strategies in excerpts about characterization and how their differences affect the conveying of the original spirit.Comparative analysis shows that the female translator, compared with the male one,has paid more attention to retaining and even emphasizing the feminism of The Color Purple. |
