| Based on the theory of cognitive metaphor, this thesis selects three chapters from the novel The Women Upstairs as the translation text and focuses on the analysis of four common mapping approaches of metaphor from a cognitive perspective, namely mapping, zero mapping,re-mapping and de-mapping.Meanwhile,in light of specific examples, this thesis discusses how to apply appropriate translation techniques in translating the metaphors and the reasons behind it.It has been tentatively proved that the application of cognitive metaphor theory to guide English-Chinese translation can help translators to better find out the conceptual metaphor behind the language transfer, which also allows translators to convey the original author’s intention to the readers more naturally and effectively. |
