| Ursula K.Le Guin,as the representative of New Wave Science Fiction writers in America, won Hugo Awards for many times, has been recognized by the mainstream of literary. The Left Hand of Darkness trilogy is her most representative work.Le Guin’s language is pure and simple, her works reveal a calm and tolerant attitude towards life, and full of philosophical thinking. The outer space described by the writer does not have too many high-tech machines and spacecrafts, and it doesn’t have a grand blueprint for people to open up territory. She prefers to use science fiction to describe a new world with the help of sociology and psychology.Unlike the science fiction novels in the same period,Le Guin’s Soft Science Fiction focuses on people in different fields and reflects various problems in reality,so the body is a significant topic. In the trilogy, individuals experience the normal state of repression and obedience, but the bound body still surge with consciousness that is opposite to the authorities. They escape the constraints of duality and find a way out for survival. Therefore, this paper concludes three parts, systematically explores the body writing in Le Guin’s Left Hand of Darkness trilogy. The first chapter focuses on the shaping of the body in Le Guin’s novels, from the perspective of male desire to gaze at the female body, the docile body under the authority of the regime, and the physical harm of the aborigines in the colonial context. The depressed and hurting body exposes the neglected problems under the oppression of duality. The second chapter explores how the body consciousness will highlight the encirclement and return to the scene.Through re-examination of the diet and lust,we will look for the primitive desire of the body that is covered by reason, and discover the strongest body that is hidden under language and reason. At the same time, after the body consciousness is awakened, the rebelling body will counterattack and cannot escape the fate of being sacrificed, struggling to be involved in the vicious circle of history. The third chapter explores the way that Le Guin search for to save the body.First of all, through the deconstruction of the body, androgynous is constructed to liberate the female body.At the same time, influenced by Taoist thought, the androgynous is inspired to point out the traditional and stubborn western way of thinking that actually exists, and approaching to unifying the opposite duality.Secondly, the social nature of the body encourages writers to rebuild interpersonal relationships and re-examine the presence and interaction of the body. Finally, the writer summons the body to return to a broader space, break through the barriers of instrumentalism between man and nature, and return to the ideal state of “the unity of nature and man” and the free state of conforming to nature. It is concluded that Ursula Le Guin takes the body as the object of care, but does not stop at the writing of the repressed body. She exposes the oppressive reality of duality through the body, creating a possible way of life for people. The writer actively thinks the fact that the body consciousness is still in decline after awakening, bravely deconstructs the solidified dualistic way with Taoist thoughts. She tries to keep the body care with Taoist, and returns to a state of harmony and freedom. |
