| Chinese political documents boast distinct political characteristics and profound cultural connotations,which represent the image of China.Their translation should not only ensure accuracy and objectivity,but also convey the cultural deposits.According to culture translation theory,translation is not only the transformation between two languages,but also the dialogue between two cultures.Therefore,it is of great value to study the translation of words with Chinese cultural characteristics in political documents.This thesis discusses how to remove the cultural barriers or narrow the culture gap in the translation of political books in order to achieve successful and effective translation and better show the full view of cultural translation through studies on the English translation of political documents from the perspective of culture self-consistency.This thesis,taking the English version of Xi Jinping Wit and Vision as the research object,attempts to explore Chinese culture appeal and cross-cultural communication effects and explore the achievement of culture self-consistency based on culture translation theory by analyzing the translation strategies of the three categories of culture-loaded words through case analysis and qualitative analysis.This thesis concludes that as for culture-loaded words with Chinese cultural characteristics,the translators faithfully express the original thoughts and reproduce the exotic charm and styles of the original text through the foreignization strategy that can fully convey the cultural connotations and highlight the value of languages with cultural characteristics in political documents,thus realizing cultural self-consistency,promoting the target readers’ comprehension toward Chinese culture and spreading Chinese voice.The author hopes that this study can provide inspiration for the translation of political documents. |
