At the beginning of 2020,a sudden new crown pneumonia epidemic swept the world. As the country where the new crown pneumonia first broke out,China’s every move in combating the epidemic affects the hearts of people all over the world.my country has achieved a great victory in the fight against the epidemic through effective anti-epidemic measures and united efforts to fight the epidemic. However, the media in some Western countries used the topic of the new crown epidemic to smear China and seriously damage China’s image. At the same time, our country attaches great importance to the external propaganda work in the overseas public opinion field.CGTN(China International Television Station),as an important window for my country’s foreign publicity, tells the story of China’s war "epidemic" through documentary,an art form centered on reality. Its cross-cultural communication methods are worth exploring. Therefore, this article uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods to use the four best “epidemic” documentaries filmed by CGTN: "Wuhan 24 Hours","Wuhan War Epidemic Chronicles","Chinese War Epidemic Chronicles",and "Chinese War Epidemic"."Under Epidemic" is the research object, and it is analyzed from the perspective of cross-cultural communication with reference to the comments of overseas netizens on the Youtube platform. In terms of dissemination effects, overseas netizens present a dominant-hegemonic decoding of "medical workers","family affection",and "people-oriented values";they present a negotiated decoding of "Chinese experience" and "Chinese wisdom";and some audiences are subject to stereotypes Thinking has a greater influence, showing adversarial decoding.Secondly, this article explores how CGTN’s anti-epidemic documentary is based on international perspectives for cultural adaptation, mainly from the three aspects of finding intersections, meeting common needs, and moderate naturalization.First, looking for a meeting point with overseas audiences includes the overall presentation from the perspective of civilianization and the narrative of daily life.Second,by showing our country’s top-down strict prevention and control,people-first treatment philosophy, and yearning for a better life,we can satisfy humanity’s desire for safety, equality, and hope under the epidemic.Third, integrate Western cultural elements into communication to draw a distance from the audience. Finally, based on the successful experience of the CGTN war against the "epidemic" documentary, this article will bring enlightenment for the future cross-cultural communication creation of my country’s documentary: find a point of convergence with overseas audiences, establish a dialogue space to promote cultural exchanges between China and the West, and pay attention to the actual needs of target audiences.Make the positioning of the content more precise, integrate Western cultural elements into the culture with Chinese characteristics, and increase the closeness of the text.
