| Researches show that learning style and learning strategy are two very important factors that affect English learning,and their mutual influence plays a role in language learning.However,in the current research on the relevance of English learning styles and learning strategies in China,the stage of research objects is mostly limited to undergraduates,and there are not many researches on primary and secondary schools.Most of its research methods use questionnaire surveys,which are relatively simple.The theoretical basis of this research is Reid’s perceptual learning style theory and Oxford’s language learning strategy theory.It uses the perceptual learning style survey scale,the language learning strategy survey scale and interviews,and uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the correlation between the English learning style and English learning strategies of the students in junior high school.This research mainly discusses three questions:(1)What is the overall situation of junior high school students’ English learning style?(2)How are junior high school students’ English learning strategies used?(3)What is the relationship between junior high school students’ English learning styles and English learning strategies?The study collected relevant data and materials through a questionnaire survey of99 students and interviews with 12 students in two classes of the second grade of a junior high school in a key middle school in Changchun.Using Excel and the social science statistical software package SPSS to perform descriptive statistical analysis and Pearson correlation analysis on the collected data,the author conducted a detailed research and analysis of the interview results of 12 students.And the results were:(1)The general characteristics of the English learning style of junior high school students are that they have a variety of secondary learning styles,but among which only the visual style is the main one.From strong to weak,their preference for learning styles is visual,auditory,tactile,independent,kinesthetic and cooperative ones.(2)Junior high school students are not good at using English learning strategies and the utilization rate is low,and they lack frequently used learning strategies.The frequency ranges are compensation,cognition,social interaction,metacognition,memory and affective strategies,from high to low.(3)There is indeed a certain correlation between the English learning style and learning strategies for students in junior high school,and both are positive correlations,but most of them are low ones.The three more significant correlation coefficients are higher than 0.40: tactile learning style and memory strategy,cooperative learning style and memory strategy,independent learning style and metacognitive strategy.In addition,the correlations between the six learning styles and memory strategies,the six learning styles and metacognitive strategies,and the independent learning styles and the six learning strategies have reached a statistically significant level.Other correlations are low,and some are even negligible.Finally,according to the results of the research,the research enlightenment is obtained,and corresponding suggestions are put forward for teachers and students. |
