As a national instrumental music with a long history, characterized by clear and full treble and deep bass,Guzheng(Chinese zither)has attracted many contemporary composers to compose modern Zheng music for it,catering to the contemporary composers’ creative pursuit of learning from western creative ideas and abiding by traditional blood. With the development of modern composing techniques, modern Zheng music has greatly enriched the expressive force of Guzheng and endowed it with more plasticity.Still water flowing deep is a modern Zheng music composed by young composer Liu Chang in 2010,in which the composer takes water as the performance object and borrows the idiom "still water flowing deep" as the title. On the surface, the works seems to write about water, but its essence is to endow it with a kind of personification character and profound philosophical connotation through the understanding of water attributes,so as to voice the composer’s feelings of watching water, and thus express a kind of personality ideal and aesthetic pursuit consistent with Chinese traditional culture. This paper attempts to make a multi-faceted humanistic interpretation by thinking and grasping the composer’s creative intention, musical form characteristics, aesthetic interest and artistic ideal expressed by the composer,in combination with his own performance practice. |
