A Study On The Construction Of "Adjective +(Le)+ Object" In Modern Chinese

In modern Chinese,"Adjective +(le)+ object" structure is a common language phenomenon.We make an exhaustive study of the adjectives that can enter the construction of "Adjective +(le)+ object" in the dictionary of Chinese adjective usage(2003 Edition).On the basis of investigation,the paper focuses on the analysis of the semantics,functions and causes of the construction of "Adjective +(le)+ object".The first part is the introduction.This paper puts forward the research object of this paper,summarizes the existing research on the structure of form object,and introduces the research scope,theoretical background,research value,research ideas,research methods and corpus sources of this paper.The second part is the main body,which consists of four chapters.The first chapter describes and analyzes the components of the construction of "Adjective +(le)+ object" mainly from the characteristics of form.The second chapter mainly analyzes the semantic features and functions of "Adjective +(le)+ object".From the perspective of the specific event content expressed by the construction,"Adjective +(le)+ object" construction has two main semantic features: causative meaning and spontaneous meaning.The construction of "Adjective +(le)+ object" has the semantic functions of highlighting semantic contrast,expressing generalized causality and containing degree meaning.The third chapter analyzes the syntactic and pragmatic functions of "Adjective +(le)+ object".From the perspective of syntactic function,the construction of "Adjective +(le)+ object" is mainly used as predicate,in addition,it can also be used as complement,attribute and adverbial.From the perspective of pragmatic function,the construction of "Adjective +(le)+ object" has the functions of highlighting the subjectivity of language expression,text selection and focus.The fourth chapter analyzes the formation of the construction of "Adjective +(le)+ object" from the perspective of external and internal reasons.People’s need for expression is the external cause of the formation of "Adjective +(le)+ object".The construction of "Adjective +(le)+ object" is simple and novel,which can satisfy people’s pragmatic psychology of seeking simplicity and novelty.From the characteristics of adjectives themselves,the functional shift from property adjectives to change adjectives and from adjectives to verbs are the restrictive factors for the formation of "Adjective +(le)+ object".The cognitive mechanisms that promote the formation of "Adjective +(le)+ object" construction include cognitive salience construal and metaphorical reasoning.From the perspective of cognitive salience construal,human beings tend to pay attention to moving things in cognition,which determines that when choosing syntactic forms,people put the adjectives with dynamic characteristics in SA construction in front to highlight the process of character change expressed by adjectives.From the perspective of metaphorical reasoning mechanism,the formation of "Adjective +(le)+object" construction stems from the fact that people project adjective with object construction and the concept expressed by adjective into verb object structure and verb by means of analogical thinking.In addition,people’s test and evaluation of the mapped results have an important impact on the final formation of language expression.The internal cause of the formation of the construction "Adjective +(le)+ object" construction also includes its inheritance of the causative construction of adjectives in ancient Chinese.The inheritance of causative structure includes "the inheritance of fixed structure" and "the inheritance of non fixed structure".The development of causative structure mainly lies in the appearance of coordinate disyllabic adjectives in modern Chinese."The inheritance of fixed structure" is mainly the inheritance of the structure with fixed form.Some "non fixed structures" are gradually inherited because they are widely used or can meet the needs of people’s language rhetoric.The third part is the conclusion.The conclusion of this paper is drawn,the shortcomings of this study are pointed out,and the future research on the construction of "Adjective +(le)+object" is prospected.
