The Psychological Reality And Mapping Relationship Of Internal And External Metaphor In The Container Of Internal And External Personality Traits

Through combing the relevant theories and studies of container metaphor and inward and outward personality traits,this study finds that from the perspective of cognition,there are few studies on how container metaphors represent abstract concepts,focusing on kinship and moral concepts,while inward and outward personality traits are semantically expounded by using the inner and outer ways of container,but it has not been found that the related studies further explore the relationship between inward and outward personality traits and inner and outer metaphors.Whether there is metaphorical connection between them needs to be further demonstrated.If there is metaphorical relationship,how the mapping direction and the influence on individual behavior in real life are expressed,It also needs further verification.Therefore,three studies are used to explore the psychological reality,mapping directionality,and how the influence on individuals in real life is expressed.In order to further enrich the domestic theoretical research on container metaphor,expand the scope of container metaphor research,make up for the lack of research in this area;at the same time,further through container metaphor to represent the abstract concept of internal and external personality traits,more specific,image understanding of internal and external personality traits;Finally,it also has certain practical value in the cultivation,guidance and education of internal and external personality traits.Study 1 and study 2 are carried out by E-prime 3.0 program,and study 3 carries out behavior experiments in a specific environment.The subjects were asked to judge the attributes of the inward and outward personality trait words presented in the inner and outer orientation of the container×2(container orientation: container orientation,container orientation)using the Stroop experimental task.The results showed that the response of introversion personality trait words in the container was significantly faster than that of extroversion personality trait words outside the container,and the introversion personality trait vocabulary presented outside the container was significantly faster than that of introversion personality trait vocabulary presented outside the container.The second study adopts semantic priming paradigm and is divided into two experiments.Experiment 2:2(personality traits: introverted personality traits vocabulary,extroverted personality traits vocabulary)×2(letter presentation position: container interior,container exterior)the subjects were asked to identify the letters presented on different container orientations after the internal and external personality traits vocabulary was started.The results showed that the recognition reaction of the letters in the internal orientation was faster than that of the letters in the external orientation of the container,and the recognition reaction of the letters in the external orientation of the container was faster than that of the letters in the internal orientation of the container.Experiment 2,2(letter orientation: container interior,container exterior)×2(personality trait vocabulary: introversion personality trait vocabulary,extroversion personality trait vocabulary),if the subjects to judge the attributes of the introverted personality trait vocabulary.The results showed that when the priming letters were presented inside the container(i.e.,the orientation inside the container),the response of introverted personality trait vocabulary judgment was faster than that of extroverted personality trait vocabulary judgment.When the priming letters were presented outside the container,the judgment response of extroverted personality trait vocabulary was faster than that of introverted personality trait vocabulary concept.This indicates that after activating the concept of internal and external personality trait vocabulary / container under the consistent effect,the corresponding concept will actively establish a connection with it.Study three used the scenario change model to conduct the behavioral experiment of 2(× 2: subjects with orientation and typical extrovert personality characteristics)(container orientation: container orientation,outside container orientation).The test is required to experience and choose the two positions in the room according to its own characteristics,preferences and habits,and at the same time to complete the relevant tasks,that is,to select the three most matching personality characteristics from the 10 existing internal and external personality characteristics vocabulary.Results The introverted personality traits with typical and tendency.The following conclusions were drawn from the study:First,there is the psychological reality of "container-introversion" and "container-extroversion" between internal and external personality traits and internal and external metaphors.Second,the mapping orientation between the two is two-way mapping,that is,when the extroverted personality trait vocabulary was started,the subjects’ response to the external letters of the container was shorter than that of the external letters of the container;when the internal orientation of the container was started,the response to the introverted personality trait vocabulary was shorter than that of the introverted personality trait vocabulary.Third,the internal and external personality traits will affect the individual’s preference and choice of the internal and external orientation of the container.Participants with typical and tendentious introverted personality traits prefer to choose the internal position of the container.Participants with typical and tendentious extroverted personality traits prefer to choose the external position of the container.
