Research On Guo Moruo’s "Lu Xun Memorial" Discourse(1936-1949)

After the death of Mr.Lu Xun,activities to commemorate Lu Xun from all walks of life followed.Lu Xun began to break away from his "subject",and the image of "Lu Xun behind him" was gradually constructed.Guo Moruo,who lives in Japan,was shocked by the news of Lu Xun’s death and wrote many commemorative articles under extreme sorrow,and he was highly eloquent.After returning to China,he persisted in commemorating Lu Xun.However,during the War of Resistance against Japan,Guo Moruo held an important position and shouldered the heavy responsibility of literary and artistic inspiring the War of Resistance,which also determined that his memorial to Lu Xun had a strong political and strategic purpose.On the other hand,Guo Moruo and Lu Xun had a history of "writing and ridicule".This put Guo Moruo in an extremely embarrassing situation under the background that Lu Xun was extremely affirmed and raised by Yan’an.At the same time,it also caused Guo Moruo to constantly explain,downplay and The past of Lu Xun’s "disharmony" is reflected throughout the war.Guo Moruo’s "Lu Xun Memorial" also represents the complexity of the overall "Lu Xun Memorial".This thesis tries to start from the sacrificial essays written by Guo Moruo between1936 and 1949,and it is divided into three parts to examine,analyze and discuss his memorial situation.The first part is to sort out and verify Guo Moruo’s "Lu Xun Memorial" text in this period.Based on Guo Moruo’s most complete and detailed research,"The Long Compilation of Guo Moruo’s Chronicles",try to make up for its omissions.The second part starts from the memorial text and analyzes the "Image of Lu Xun" portrayed by Guo Moruo in the memorial text.After Lu Xun’s death,he was judged to be the "national soul",Guo Moruo unfolded it in the sacrificial essay,and constructed Lu Xun’s image as a "national warrior" and "literary scholar".With the development of war and changes in political demands,Guo Moruo’s memorial discourse changed accordingly.The wartime purpose of using Lu Xun’s spirit to inspire the morale of the people weakened,and the study of the "ontology" Lu Xun was gradually advocated.Guo Moruo pointed out that there is nothing to say about the annual memorial,and more research should be made on Lu Xun’s works and thoughts.So embodied in Guo Moruo’s commemorative discourse,the image of Lu Xun as a"literaryist" is more talked about.The third part tries to analyze the characteristics of Guo Moruo’s "Lu Xun Memorial" during the war.Guo Moruo in wartime was not just Guo Moruo of "Guo Moruo",he was Guo Moruo of the entire nation within a certain period of time.When Guo Moruo served as his "Guo Moruo",he expressed regrets for the "spoken ridicule" and "never met" with Lu Xun in the text commemorating Lu Xun many times.When Guo Moruo was the Guo Moruo of the nation,the wartime needs of literary and artistic inspiration during the War of Resistance made him use Lu Xun many times in his commemorative texts to respond to urgent practical problems such as"national form".From a macro point of view,Guo Moruo ’ s "Lu Xun Memorial"reflects some common characteristics of the entire wartime "Lu Xun Memorial".In the early stage of the Anti-Japanese War,out of the tense wartime needs,Lu Xun’s wartime significance was placed in the first place."The image and the spirit of uncompromising are exalted.In the late period of the Anti-Japanese War,the "ontology" Lu Xun began to be studied,and the "Lu Xun" being studied gradually approached the real Lu Xun.
