A Study On The "X+V" Phrase In The Subject-object Position

The"X+V"phrase("X"refers to the noun"N",the adjective"A"and the verb"V")as the subject object is A common phenomenon,which is A complex grammatical phenomenon.This paper first investigates the syntactic structure,semantic relationship and semantic correlation of"X+V"phrase,then explores the referential function of"X+V"phrase,and finally takes"X+Dan Dang(担当)"phrase as an example to conduct a special study.This paper is divided into five chapters,as follows:The first chapter is the introduction,which briefly introduces the origin of the topic selection,research status,object,content and method.The second chapter studies the internal relationship of "X+V" phrase.From the perspective of syntactic structure,the phrase "X+V" contains five kinds of structures,namely subject-predicate,biased,joint,verb-object and appositive,and the proportion of each structure is as follows: bias relation(65.92%)>coordinating relation(19.87%)> subject-predicate relation(11.15%)>verb-object relation(2.61%)> appositive relation(0.45%).From the perspective of semantic relations,the phrase "X+V" can represent twenty semantic relations,such as "agent + action","theme + action","patient + action" and "relevance +action".Among them,the proportions of "property + action","action 1+coordinate action 2" and "mode + action" were 27.19%,19.87% and 9.55%,respectively.In addition,we analyze the semantic correlation degree of "X" and "V" from three aspects of semantic dependency,semantic directivity and semantic similarity or correlation.It is found that "N subject","A property" and "V juxtination" have the highest semantic correlation degree with "V",and occupy A higher proportion in "N+V","A+V" and "V1+V2" structures.23.54%,68.80% and 57.39%,respectively.The third chapter analyzes the referential function of "X+V" phrase and its restrictive factors.The phrase "X+V" can refer to actions,events and things.According to the number of nominal features acquired in the referentialization process,we can semantically conclude the referentialization level of "X+V" phrase as follows: object referential meaning > event referential meaning >action referential meaning.The three factors that influence the referential function of "X+V" phrase are the semantic features of "V",the salient effect of "X" on "V" and the strength of the action of the sentence main verb.The fourth chapter studies the topic of"X+Dan Dang(担当)".Firstly,the internal relationship of the phrase"X+Dan Dang(担当)"is analyzed.The"X+Dan Dang(担当)"phrase is compatible with three syntactic structures:subject-predicate,right-biased and associative,and the ability of expressing syntactic relations is as follows:bias relation(65.65%)>subject-predicate relation(32.82%)and>coordinating relation(1.53%).The phrase"X+Dan Dang(担当)"can represent eleven semantic relations,such as"agent+action","patient+action"and"relevance+action".Among the phrases"N+Dan Dang(担当)","A+Dan Dang(担当)"and"V+Dan Dang(担当)","N agent+Dan Dang(担当)","A mode+Dan Dang(担当)"and"V relevance+Dan Dang(担当)"accounted for 35.42%,76.48%and 66.67%,respectively.This is the result of"semantic correlation degree"and"expressive demand".Secondly,it analyzes the referential function of"X+Dan Dang(担当)"and its related restraining factors.The phrase"X+Dan Dang(担当)"can refer to actions,events and things,and its referential function is mainly affected by three factors:the semantic complexity of"Dan Dang(担当)",the prominent role of"X"in"Dan Dang(担当)"and the degree of action of the sentence main verb.The fifth chapter concludes the whole paper,where we summarize the innovations and point out the shortcomings to be further studied.
