The development of Western watercolor landscape in contemporary China has maintained the characteristics of Western painting in its appearance, but also has the unique charm of the Chinese East. The general recognition and vigorous pursuit of this oriental charm of watercolor by Chinese painters has made the development structure of Chinese landscape watercolor relatively stable.Tracing the development of contemporary Chinese watercolor landscape painting, the exploration of nationalization has always been a part of it,and context,as the element that most embodies the aesthetic ideal of the Chinese nation, has pervasively influenced the way Chinese landscape watercolor is created. This sentimentality is first manifested in the identification with traditional Chinese visual experience. The Chinese watercolor landscape painter intends to create a world of imagery that will generate aesthetic excitement in the viewer through the presentation of the artwork.By borrowing the brush and ink techniques of landscape painting and fusing them with Western painting techniques, the two together fuse to create a unique watercolor landscape aesthetic. In the contemporary context, the contextual expression of watercolor landscapes has been richly expanded by the addition of artificial imagery and the extension of the artist’s rational thinking.Secondly, this aesthetic sensibility is also reflected in the selection of exhibition works.Whether it is a realistic work or an expressive or decorative work, the aesthetic interest of "context" becomes one of the important factors in evaluating the creation of watercolor landscape painting. The essence of painting mood lies in the harmony and unity of man and nature. It is a kind of subtle and introverted aesthetic philosophy in which the painter looks at nature with an appreciative attitude and thus realizes the unity of forgetfulness. In order to explore the interpretation of mood in watercolor landscape painting,we need to have a deep understanding of the connotation of "mood" in the cultural context first. Therefore,by combining the theories of contextual aesthetics,Chinese philosophy, the history of Chinese aesthetics, and the history of watercolor development, the author focuses on the key words of contemporary Chinese watercolor landscape and context, and on the connotation and essence of "context",through a multi-dimensional and multi-level interpretation of the category of context and a combing of the development history of Chinese watercolor landscape,in order to seek the inner connection and relationship of contextual landscape painting in the contemporary context.Through the multi-dimensional and multi-level interpretation of the category of "context" and the development of Chinese watercolor landscape,we seek the inner connection and theoretical support of contextual landscape painting in the contemporary context.Secondly, through the works of famous watercolor artists on landscape subjects,we explore and summarize the subject matter in a hierarchical structure from the aspects of generation conditions, construction process and formal language, and summarize the practical significance of its existence.Through the theoretical analysis of the subject, the contextual expressions and spiritual connotations of watercolor landscape painting in the context of contemporary art are explored, and the contextual hierarchy of Chinese watercolor landscape painting and the current contextual research pattern are understood.Through this research, the author hopes to provide more theoretical references for the study of contextual language in watercolor landscapes, and at the same time hopes to attract other artists and scholars to think about the modern transformation of traditional Chinese concepts,so as to promote the new development of watercolor painting.
