| Monitoring personnel’ performance is critical in searching target on the monitoring interface. The display content of the monitoring interface and the status of the monitoring personnel will affect their judgment and response. From two perspectives related to the display content of the interface and the monitoring personnel themselves, this research explores how the icon density, the number of icon color, the target occurrence rate, and the target familiarity affect the individual’s attention and response when some cognitive resources are occupied. This study includes four mixed design experiments: Experiment 1 examines the individual’s target search process and response under different densities and the presence or absence of the main screen. The results show that as the density of icons increases, participant’s task completion time increases and task accuracy rate decreases significantly.Under the condition of high icon density, the individual’s gaze movement time and judgment click time are the longest;the existence of the main screen task significantly prolongs the participant’s gaze movement time.Experiment 2 examines the individual’s target search process and response under different numbers of icon color and the presence or absence of the main screen. The results show that as the number of icon color increases, the accuracy of participant decreases significantly. The existence of the main screen task and the number of icon color have a significant interaction effect on the gaze movement time.Only under the condition with the main screen, the gaze movement time differs significantly among the levels of the number of icon color. The more the number of icon color is,the longer the gaze movement time is.Experiment 3examines the individual’s target search process and response under different target probability expectations and the presence or absence of the main screen. It is found that as the target occurrence rate decreases, the task completion time increases significantly.Besides, the target occurrence rate has a significant impact on the judgment click time:under the condition of low target occurrence rate, participant’s judgment click time is the longest.Experiment 4 examines the individual’s target search process and response under different target familiarity and the presence or absence of the main screen. The results show that participant’s task completion time under low target familiarity condition is significantly higher and the accuracy rate is significantly lower than that of high familiarity condition;the target familiarity has a significant impact on the gaze movement stage: the gaze movement time of low target familiarity condition is significantly higher than that of the high target familiarity condition. The main conclusions of this study:(1)Icon density, numb er of icon colors, target appearance probability and target familiarity all significantly affect the attention process and performance of individual target search.Different factors act on different stages of the target monitoring task. The number of icon colors and target familiarity significantly affect the sight movement phase, the target appearance probability significantly affects the judging click phase, and the icon density has a significant impact on both phases.(2)The existence of one-screen distraction task occupies certain cognitive resources, and the processing stage that it mainly affects is the gaze movement stage. In the case of actual tasks with the main screen on one-screen,different factors affect the target search task in different stages. This research provides some reference for the design of monitoring interface with the main screen on the monitoring interface. |
