Research On The Application Of Metal Mesh In Installation Art

Emerged in the 20^thcentury,installation art has been well-known today,with an increasing number of artists attempting to express their concepts in form of installation art.In art creation,the creative application of materials is critically important.In certain extent,innovation in materials is equivalent to innovation in forms of art.As industrial materials,wire meshes were used for consolidating shapes in early art creation.With development of art,artists begin to focus on the aesthetic value of wire meshes in art creation.In this article,the purposes of the research are to mine the features of wire meshes,seek the application value of wire meshes in installation art,master the skills in fabrication processing of wire meshes and explore the innovative application of wire meshes in installation art.Targeting at these purposes,the author carried the discussion from the following four part:Part Ⅰ（Chapter 1）was introduction.The author briefly introduced the research background and current status of researches at home and abroad and mined the purposes and significance of the research.The also further clarified the research content and developed the research method through researched content.Part Ⅱ（Chapter 2）was about the application of wire meshes in creation of installation art.The author first introduced the peculiarities of wire meshes and then analyzed values of wire meshes in the aspects of aesthetics,shaping and application.Part Ⅲ（Chapter 3）was about exploration of innovative application of wire meshes.The author explored the techniques concerning three-dimensional shaping and edge finishing of wire meshes from the aspect of shapes;explored the techniques of painting and coloring of wire meshes from the aspect of colors;and also explored the techniques of drawing of patterns with propane flame from the aspect of decoration.Part Ⅳ（Chapters 4 and 5）was about practical exploration of wire meshes in installation art with the theme of“Flag art”in the graduation project.The author discussed the innovative application of wire meshes in installation art through specific practice of art creation and finally made a summary of personal practical conditions.Through summarization of the research content,the author:1.Received in-depth understanding of physical property of wire meshes,mastered the skills in fabrication processing of certain wire meshes,mined the unique visual effect of wire meshes through firing and flame heating;2.Summarized the aesthetic and artistic value of wire meshes in installation art through case study and practice;3.Explored the innovative application of wire meshes in installation art and the combination of wire meshes with installation art,thus enriching the variety and forms of materials in installation art and expanding the application scope of wire meshes.Finally,the author hopes that these researches will provide certain reference for creation and development of installation art with wire meshes.
